A Senate report revealed that illegal aliens raked in 750 million in Obamacare subsidies, despite the fact that illegal aliens are not eligible for Obamacare. It’s not that the Department of Health and Human Services didn’t know they were illegals. In fact, in many cases they were sure they were. So how did they manage to pay out so much in fraudulent payments? It’s simple. Any one who did not provide proof of citizenship were required to provide proof, but instead of waiting the proof to be turned in, they paid the subsidies anyway.
It is estimated that half a million ineligible people received subsidies without ever providing proof of citizenship. HHS says that they underestimated how hard it would be to get the illegals to refund the money that they received illegally. Yeah, who would have ever guessed such a thing. That same policy is in place for 2016, but there has been no word on whether the same illegals from 2015 would be allowed to apply in 2016.
The IRS is supposed to be in charge of recouping the money, but they are too busy denying conservative groups and approving liberal groups for tax exempt status to do anything about it. In July, John Koskinen sent a letter to Sen Ron Johnson that said:
“The agency is “committed to identifying and efficiently addressing” improper payments. He reiterated that anyone “not lawfully present” who enrolls for ObamaCare coverage “must repay” the advance premium credit payments, and would be breaking the law if they don’t.”
However, as many in the congress have found out is that Koskinen’s word is more worthless than teats on a boar hog. He was caught in numerous lies and oversaw the destruction of all the tapes of Lois Lerner’s missing emails. Anyone who truly believes Koskinen is interested in doing the right thing is deeply delusional.
