Indiana is having their primary on Tuesday and Ted Cruz is quoted as saying that the Republican nomination boils down to who wins Indiana. Bold words considering how poorly he does when actual voters show up at the polls to vote. He has only won 4 primaries this year. He won his home state of Texas, Oklahoma next door to Texas, Utah, where Trump didn’t ever visit and Wisconsin. Trump on the other hand has won over 20. Cruz’s declaration appears to be a way of enacting his exit strategy.
If Trump were to win Indiana, he would have to lock on at least 42 delegates and more likely 45 or more. That would make it virtually impossible for Cruz to prevent Trump from winning the 1237 delegates he would need to win on the first ballot. Therefore, it makes sense that Cruz would make this declaration now, so he can drop out of the race if he loses Indiana with at least some grace.
But you just don’t know about Lying Ted. When he thought he was going to get the most delegates, he said the man or woman with the most delegates going into the convention is Cleveland should be the winner and not giving that person the nomination would destroy the party.

Then he lost primary after primary and it became apparent that not only wouldn’t he win 1237 delegates, he would never pass Trump’s totals and suddenly a brokered convention is the best thing since white bread. He said it would be good as long as it’s just between him and Trump. So, it’s ok if he wins the brokered convention but not if someone else does.

All eyes should be on Ted Cruz and what he has to say after the Indiana primary should he lose. My gut tells me he will stay in because his words mean absolutely nothing.
