The Islamic States second in command Hajji Mutazz, was killed in a U.S. airstrike. His death was confirmed on Friday, August 21st. The strike took place on August 18th while Mutazz was in a caravan near Mosul, Iraq. An ISIS media coordinator Abu Abdullah was also killed in the attack.

Mutazz was also known as Fadhil Ahmad Al-Hayali, and was senior deputy to the ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi. He was responsible for moving weapons, explosives, and vehicles between Syria & Iraq and was extremely instrumental in attacks and offensives.

The White House did issue a statement saying:

“Al-Hayali’s death will adversely impact ISEL’s operations given that his influence spanned ISL’s finance, media, operations, and logistics. The United States and it’s coalition partners are determined to degrade and destroy this terrorist group which has wrought so much harm and suffering on the people of the region and beyond”

I’m glad we have a country that is compassionate for others and makes a stand when injustice is seen in the world.
