Are you more vigil then in the past? Are you more aware of your surroundings? Dare I say do you profile for your own safety, not caring if someone might be offended? Well, if you answered yes to any of these questions you are a rational thinking person looking out for your safety. This leads to the concerns of one of America’s most iconic celebrations that takes place on Thanksgiving morning every year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Islamic State, in the latest edition of its online magazine Rumiyah, suggested that readers use motor vehicles to kill and injure people. The article was accompanied by photos of rented moving trucks and of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, which the magazine called “an excellent target.”
“What you see is the psychological warfare of printing materials that indicate, ‘Be afraid, be very afraid.’ We never accede to that,” Miller said.
New York police speak regularly with companies that rent trucks, and they use vehicles to block certain roads at large gatherings such as the Thanksgiving Day parade, Miller said.
This is what they usually do before any big event, especially Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day Parade, New Year’s Eve. Authorities have to sift through the threats to see what’s credible, so the process of assessing potential threats is always priority. The NYPD handles these large events almost every day, So go to the parade,It’s going to be safe, It’s going to be the safest place in New York City.
