It Cost The Taxpayers HOW MUCH To Send The Obamas On Vacation?

Well, well, well. Are you Unemployed, or under employed? Are you receiving raises that meet or exceed the rate of inflation? Can you afford to go on expensive vacations, several times a year? You could answer yes to these last questions if you were Barack Obama.

The numbers for employment don’t look good, in America. We are hardly burning it up economically.

CNBC reports stagnent, at best, employment rates, but if you talk to the average guy on then street they’ll tell you that they are either experiencing a down turn in their career earnings or they know someone who is.

The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5 percent in December. But what does that number really mean?

Economists look past the “main” unemployment number (also known as the “U-3 rate”) to other indicators in the report that give a more nuanced view of the employment situation. On jobs days, the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts out a slew of figures, each of which measures a different part of the economy.

One of those data points is the U-6 rate. Many experts prefer the U-6 rate to the U-3 rate because it captures those employees who work part time but would like to be working full time.

But again, if you are Barack Obama, you’re probably planning your next world wide excursion, as you unpack from your most recent boondoggle, on tax payers money.

Here’s some shocking statistical info on just how much you and I are paying for Obama and crew to vacation on our dime. And remember one thing. Socialism only works for those at the top of the food chain, and until you run out of other people’s money. According to new records obtained by conservative group Judicial Watch, secret service accommodations and travel expenses for two Obama family vacations cost taxpayers more than $5 million dollars.  The organization obtained the records through a Freedom of Information Act request from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The records revealed that secret service accommodations alone for the 2014 Martha’s Vineyard and Honolulu vacations cost taxpayers $1,243,057.  The information is all a result of a lawsuit filed by the right-leaning group after they say the DHS ignored their FOIA requests.

Here are some of the expenses, according to the group:

  • $39,575.95 at Paradise Luxury Rentals
  • $34,827.57 at the Kahala
  • $298,218.15 at Cabana Girl LLC

Judicial Watch is a frequent critic of the costly Obama family trips. The group contends that the total bill for Obama’s travel costs exceed $74 million dollars so far.

“Now that we’ve sued, the Secret Service has stopped ignoring our requests for details on more of the costs of Barack Obama’s luxury vacations,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton in a press release, “Taxpayers, the U.S. Air Force, and the Secret Service are being abused by Barack Obama, who too often treats Air Force One and his security detail like some sort of kingly entourage.”

In January, the Honolulu Police Department reported it’s highest bill yet of $341,000 in overtime costs to provide security for the President and his family, according to local newspaper accounts. So how does President Obama stack up? At last count, he’s actually taken fewer days of than some.  President George W. Bush took 405 days, Bill Clinton took 174, and Ronald Reagan took 390 days.

You would think he would be more grateful for the free ride to luxury, but don’t expect a “thank you” any time soon.
