Guess Who Obama’s Next Door Neighbor Is In His Post-POTUS, D.C. Home

Yeah, well, if you thought the Obamas were going back to Chicago after the White House, you were mistaken. And it would seem that they picked their new neighborhood for the services it provides them, personally, because just 1000 feet from their front door is this….

The mammoth, multi-million-dollar mansion where President Barack Obama and his family will reportedly live after the first family exits the White House is located 1,096 feet from the Islamic Center of Washington — one of the largest mosques in the Western Hemisphere.

Both Obama’s new digs and the Islamic Center are located in the fancypants northwest Washington, D.C. neighborhood of Kalorama.

The Islamic Center is a tremendous resource for the District’s Muslim community. “It provides Qur’an and Islamic Literature and distribution of such publications that would create awareness and knowledge of Islamic Truth,” according to the center’s website.

The Islamic Center in our nation’s capital also provides help for families in need, holds wedding ceremonies, organizes language courses, offers counseling and makes available ample significant research material related to Islam.

The Islamic Center features prayer five times daily. Jumaa Prayer, a traditional, congregational prayer held each Friday, occurs at 1:30 p.m.

The exterior of the Islamic Center features horseshoe arches, Arabic script and tall, ornate minaret. The building is surrounded by an array of flags representing the countries of the world where Islam is the state-sanctioned religion.

Just around the corner and up the street — a four-minute walk away — Obama’s palatial, 8,200-square-foot mansion boasts eight-bedroom and nine-and-a-half-bathroom. It includes a two garage and courtyard with space for roughly 10 vehicles.

The home — built in 1928 — sold for $5,295,000 in 2014.

The Tudor-style residence is just a 10-minute drive from Sidwell Friends School, Sasha Obama’s school.

The mansion previously belonged to Joe Lockhart, founder of Glover Park Group, and Giovanna Gray Lockhart, Glamour magazine’s Washington editor. The power couple is reportedly moving to New York City.

In addition to the Islamic Center of Washington, the embassy of Oman and the former embassy of Iran are very close to Obama’s new mansion.
