Lead Prosecutors in Freddie Gray Case Will Face Disbarment Along With Marilyn Mosby

Fresh on the heels of her fourth defeat in her persecution prosecution of six officers in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray, charges against her lead prosecutors will be filed in court on Tuesday by John Banzhaf, for the purpose of her disbarment.  Banzhaf, a legal activist from George Washington University is the one who has already filed charges against Mosby that will lead to a disbarment review.  He has now decided, after they failed miserably to convict any of the officers , that they too should answer for their actions.

On Monday, Lt Brian Rice was found not guilty of all charges.  Rice was the ranking officer at the scene and the driver has already been cleared of all charges.  Legal analysts believe that all charges against all the officers be dropped.  The prosecutor’s office has yet to decide whether to try to prosecute the remaining officers.

Famed Lawyer, Barry Slotnick said:

“It’s quite clear that the prosecution should not continue on.  The prosecution in the next three cases should strongly make a suggestion in court — on the record — that these cases have not been proven and will not be proven and therefore they should be dismissed.”

Slotnick doesn’t believe that Mosby will drop the charges:

“It’s rather sad.  The fact of the matter is that I think this prosecution was commenced by people who were concerned about community reaction. People should not be accused of a crime to have a community satisfied. It’s absolutely inappropriate.”

Banzhaf has now decided to file charges against Baltimore Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Michael Schatzow and Deputy State’s Attorney Janice Bledsoe for their prosecution of suspects in the death of Freddie Gray:

“Though they may have been ordered by Mosby to do what they did, that is no defense. Every prosecutor has an individual obligation.  They aren’t some minions way down below on the chain that really have no choice. These are the two major people in charge of making the decisions. I think they are as guilty of ethical violations as she.”

From The Washington Times:

On Monday, Baltimore Circuit Judge Barry Williams acquitted Lt. Rice, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter, misconduct in office and reckless endangerment. Prosecutors dropped a second misconduct charge before the trial started, and the judge dropped a second-degree assault charge after the prosecution rested its case last week.

In addition, the judge chided prosecutors for the second time in a trial related to Gray’s death for withholding evidence from defense attorneys.
