A woman in Michigan rushed her 3-year-old child to the hospital after she found pieces of glass in the little girl’s burger. Her daughter is now home recovering, but the mother is furious and demanding answers.
Vanessa brought her preschooler to a Wendy’s restaurant in Southgate as a reward for a good dentist visit. As soon as her daughter bit into the burger, she knew something was wrong.
“She bit into her burger, we were inside, and she started to crunch this super loud crunch… that wasn’t normal.”
Her daughter cried in pain and the pregnant mother began to panic. She instructed her daughter not to swallow and stuck her finger into her daughter’s mouth to pull out the food. “As I was pulling her food out, I was pulling food out and blood out and I saw particles of glass on my fingers,” said Vanessa.
Vanessa called the police and rushed the little girl to the emergency room. Police report that a manager confessed a light bulb had broken in the food preparation area earlier.
The mother didn’t hear anything from the restaurant but refused to let the glass just be swept up under the rug. She contacted WXYZ news. After the reporters began investigating, the company reached out to her.
“This is an extremely unfortunate accident and we quickly investigated, it appears a light bulb may have broken during maintenance activity in the restaurant,” said the Starboard Group, the company that owns the Wendy’s restaurant in question.
“I hope to never go through anything like that again… think celebratory lunch at Wendy’s wouldn’t be such a nightmare.”
