A man in Berkeley, California got an amazing deal from Domino’s Pizza on Friday: along with pizza, the delivery chain accidentally threw in $1,300 cash.
“I ordered some pizzas and I thought I was going to have the day off, I was going to sit home and enjoy my relaxation,” Mike Vegas, who found the cash in a box of wings, said.
This story starts with the ordinary; Vegas of Berkeley called up Dominos and ate just one slice before putting the rest in the fridge. It wasn’t until several hours later that he noticed.
“My phone started blowing up and I wasn’t looking at the random messages, I was at work.”
Those phone calls would be from the delivery driver, who had been on his way to the bank with just one more delivery to make.
He put the cash in the wings box for safekeeping but made a big mistake.
“About 5 a.m. I got home from work and went to my fridge and pulled out what I thought was wings and turned out to be $1,300,” Vegas said.
Vegas debated whether to keep the money or return it, but after giving it some thought, he took the money back, and it looks like karma might be a real thing.
“To thank you we want to offer you free pizza for a whole year,” the Dominos manager told Vegas.
It’s an offer Vegas plans to take the chain up on.
He said his first job at 16 was delivering for Pizza Hut, so he feels for the driver.
