Narendra Kumar, 18, a man in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, decided to go to the doctor after experiencing vomiting, unexplained weight loss, and excruciating stomach pains. An x-ray revealed the actual source of the man’s pain – and what the doctors pulled out of him was just plain nasty.
A CT scan would later show a mass inside Narendra’s stomach, but it wasn’t until the surgery that doctors finally discovered the root of his agony. It turns out, the 18-year-old had been suffering from the effects of a parasitic twin.
Photos of the parasitic twin show it to be a mass of bone, teeth, and hair that has grown over two yards in length. Doctors would later reveal it to weigh about 5.5 lbs, and it had a “trunk” of hair that had grown to just over two yards in length over the years.
“The condition occurs when during the early stages of pregnancy with twins, one [fetus] enters the other through the umbilical cord. There, it becomes a parasite, living off its sibling’s body for survival.”
Narendra and his family are happy to have made it through this experience and to have that unwanted passenger gone. “That evil has been tormenting him for years,” explained his father, Prem Chandra. “Now that it has been removed, I am relieved. He can now go back to school and lead a healthy life.”
