There is heroism to this story, but it doesn’t belong to the guy who tried to save his drone from drowning.
A 22-year-old, named in reports simply as Singh, cast his fears aside and jumped into the ocean to retrieve the device after it crashed into the water during a student photo shoot on St. Kilda Pier in Victoria, Australia.
Unfortunately, all hopes of saving the drone quickly disappeared as Singh’s body started to cramp due to the cold, making him unable to move in the wintery sea. The absence of a ladder between the pier and the water prevented an easy exit.
“I couldn’t touch the floor with my feet, so then I started panicking. It was cold as well,” Singh told9 News.
Thankfully, his friends scrambled to form a makeshift rope out of their clothes, before police arrived to retrieve him.
By this point, Singh had been in the water for 30 minute and police said that he would have started to drift in and out of consciousness had he stayed in much longer.
