A large group of protesters began organizing this week, using social media and the hashtag #StopTheParade. Their goal was to interrupt today’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in order to bring attention to the Ferguson grand jury decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson.

Police have reportedly requested arrest wagons for broader arrests, as the #StopTheParade protests have not ended after these few arrests were made.
Last night, some of the organizers allegedly said “the police aren’t going to arrest us and they are not going to shoot us,” local media said an activist going by the name Magick said. “They’re walking right by us now with their heads down and their tails between their legs.”
The Post reported that police said: “Yes, they’re planning on crashing the parade,” before the protests kicked off.
“With this hands-off approach, it gives them free rein to do anything they want. It’s a free pass to act like a fool,” the police source lamented. “They’re not going to be able to do at the parade what they did at the Brooklyn Bridge. What are they going to do, trample kids to stop a float?”
The cops were also heard bashing Mayor de Blasio for allowing protests that effectively closed bridges Tuesday evening.
“The brass didn’t want anyone caught on camera making arrests for fear that someone would scream something,” the anonymous police source said to the local Post. “They also didn’t want to provoke anyone. They don’t want any more bad press, particularly with all these camera-crazy perps trying to get cops into trouble.”
“How times have changed,” another fumed. “Under [Ray] Kelly and [Mike] Bloomberg, this would never happen.”
