A Louisiana State Trooper was shot in the head Sunday during a traffic stop near Lake Charles and is now in critical condition.
According to WDSU, LSP Col. Mike Edmonson, head of the state police, said the trooper pulled over a driver suspected of being impaired. The trooper was shot during the traffic stop.
Consequently, the perpetrator was detained by nearby motorists and other drivers stopped to help the trooper until paramedics arrived.
Announcing the incident on the State agency’s FaceBook page under the heading “Trooper Critically Injured – Prayers Needed,” Edmonson says the trooper’s name will be released as the investigation continues forward.
