RT, LiveLeak and the Gateway Pundit are all posting stories that Maxine Waters was fooled by two Russian hoaxers who claimed that Russia had hacked the elections in the country of Limpopo. Limpopo is a name in a popular children’s book in Russia. The ruse was allegedly perpetrated by the Russian comedy duo of Lexus and Vovan, whose real names are Vladimir Krasnov and Aleksey Stolyarov.
The duo have posted an audio they claim they recorded with Maxine Waters in which they told her that Putin along with two hackers by the names of Lexus and Vovan had hacked the elections in the tiny country of Limpopo in order to put a Putin puppet in charge of the country.
There is as of yet no proof that the audio is real and this publication and this author is only posting what other news outlets claim to be true.
At the end of the call, the pranksters claimed that Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko had recently been plagued by an unfortunate problem with television, which all of a sudden switched to RT broadcasting Vladimir Putin’s interview.
“It happened to me too!” the supposed Congresswoman replied, referring to the incident on the C-SPAN channel when the speech of Maxine Waters due to internal routing problems was “blacked out” by RT for some ten minutes.
The two pranksters Vovan and Lexus have long been famous in Russia for making fun of high-profile people, including politicians and celebrities. The trickster duo became household names during the 2014 political crisis and subsequent civil war in Ukraine, as they often impersonated Ukrainian politicians.
He told Waters Vladimir Putin advisors “Bovan” and “Lexus” ordered the alleged hacking.
“What are their internet names?” Waters inquired.
He then informed Waters that Putin invaded Gabon and she seemed to believe it.
The comedian told Waters about Putin’s new “hackers weapon.”
“Our president, he was in his office, and he watched the TV,” Vovan said in broken English. “And what happened, his TV channel changed by itself to Russia Today and it was interview with Putin.
They pretended to be Prime Minister of Ukraine, set up “official” phone contact, and spent like 20 minutes getting her to believe increasingly insane claims.
Some notable fails:
– Limpopo isn’t a country, much less one suffering from Russian hacking
– Russia did not invade Gabon
– Russia hasn’t hijacked control of C-SPAN
– Vovan and Lexus aren’t “Putin’s advisors in charge of election hacking” (those are the nicknames of the phone hooligans) etc. etc.
– They also talk about Hillary (more details in comments)
They discussed another Russian aggression in state of Limpopo (made up name from well known Russian CHILDREN’s book) and installing Putin’s right hand marionette as its President by the name of Aibolit (another well known Russian CHILDREN’s book character, Dr. Aibolit and loosely translated play on a sound one makes when sick, Dr. OhItHurts!).
Maxine Waters agreed this Russian aggression must stop now! She offered help in overturning Limpopo’s new “dictator”.
