A member of the Air Force who has to remain anonymous to avoid retribution appeared on Fox’s Special Report and said that we had a plane in Italy ready to go and could have been in Benghazi in a matter of 3 hours. The two attacks occurred over an 8 hour period. He also explained that the claim that there were no tankers available for refueling because he said they didn’t need a tanker as they can perform a “hot pit maneuver.” That allows the plane to land and refuel without shutting the engines off.
Here are a couple of comments from the Air Force soldier:
“I definitely believe that our aircraft could have taken off and got there in a timely manner, maybe three hours at the most, in order to…at least stop that second mortar attack and have those guys running for the hills, and basically save lives that day.”
He claims they had multiple chances to go to the aid of the Benghazi compound:
“As far as I’m concerned, we’re the world’s greatest Air Force. When we need something done and we need to save some American lives, we’re gonna get it done. They just kept telling me ‘We’re waiting on a call, we’re waiting on the call.”
“We could have been there, and that’s the worst part. That’s a horrible feeling to have, when you can help someone, especially when you don’t even find out until later, and you hear that people actually died.”
He says he still feels guilty because they didn’t fly in for the rescue. He also said they were devastated when they found out that there were casualties.
