The Injustice Department of Loretta Lynch’s told North Carolina that not allowing transgenders and others from using the bathroom of their choice is discriminatory and has given them until Monday to change their law. State House Speaker Tim Moore (R) spoke with reporters on Thursday and told them that the legislature had absolutely no plan to act on the demands of the Injustice Department.(ID) And certainly not by Monday. The next step is up to the ID which could go to court and argue that the rights of .003% of the population trumps the rights of the other 99.997% of Americans.
Should they be successful, which is likely since they would judge shop for a liberal elitist who wouldn’t be caught dead in a public restroom anyway, to make the ruling. At that point, the ID could then withhold federal funds from North Carolina. It is not clear what funds they would withhold and questions posed to officials at the ID were not answered.
Withholding funds could backfire on the ID. Suppose they withhold funds for schools. North Carolina then would be free to ignore all mandates on education from Washington. Withholding highway funding could cause the state to ignore federal roads throughout the state, since those mandates are tied to control from Washington. What’s more is North Carolina could tell all gas stations to quit withholding federal taxes on gasoline, which provides most of the funds for road building and repair. They could then increase state taxes on gas and use that to make up lost money from the federal government.
Speaker Moore says that the state will not be intimidated by the Obama caliphate. If North Carolina continues to hold their resolve, they could do something republicans in the US Congress have been unable to do.
