A federal judge slapped an injunction on the Obama administration , who tried to mandate coverage for abortions and sex change operations. With the skyrocketing cost of Obamacare, this would have driven the prices beyond the reach of tens of millions of Americans. The lawsuit was brought by Texas Atty general Ken Paxton, who has some practice at defeating Obama in court.

Paxton released a statement that contains the following excerpts:
“The Obama administration is attempting to redefine the law so that the term ‘sex’ means one’s ‘internal sense of gender which may be male, female, neither, or a combination of male and female,’ even though the president lacks the authority to rewrite the law.”
Paxton said that the law was particularly onerous because it took the doctor out of the decision even if there was a danger in the procedure. Most doctors would not perform any operation in those circumstances but the mandate would force them to operate anyway and open them up to a malpractice suit and would also abridge the doctor’s freedom of religion clause that would fo
“This runs roughshod over laws in Texas and other states that protect the independent medical judgment of doctors, which ensures the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship.”
“This striking example of federal overreach under Obamacare would force many doctors, hospitals and other health care providers in Texas to participate in sex-reassignment surgeries and treatments, even if it violates their best medical judgment or their religious beliefs,” Attorney General Paxton said. “I will always fight to protect the constitutional rights of Texans.”
Many people don’t realize that adding new coverage rests with the head of the HHS only and can only be overruled with a 67% super majority in both Houses and the president signing off on it. It’s just one more reason that Obamacare must be scrapped.
