The top honchos at Pepsi threw in the towel and folded to the escalating avalanche of protest from a legion of anti-Trump forces and pulled Kendall Jenner’s two-and-a-half-minute ad titled, “Live for Now Moments Anthem,” according to Breitbart. Was this ad so troubling to the leftists and their “Resist” mantra that they feared an ad that wanted to “project a global message of unity, peace and understanding?” Who truly won in this battle over taking a moment to share peace?
The national backlash was so furious that one had to speculate that even the liberals who had been in hiding in their “safe places” after President Donald Trump won the November 8 election somehow were blasted into action from their comfort zone. Honestly, was this about Pepsi, or about revealing that the resist movement is so bankrupt of any true protest issues that attacking actress and model Kendall Jenner seemed like a convenient target for their computer keyboard rage?
One can only imagine what was going through the heads of the professional mainstream liberal protesters who never gave up the ghost of watching poor innocent corrupt Hillary Clinton being torched by the billionaire who captured the heart and soul of flyover America. They had to be sitting in their New York, Washington DC, and Los Angeles coffee shops sipping a caffellatte, wondering how to stick it to President Trump yet one more time.
Suddenly and quite unexpectedly to the Birkenstock wearing crowd, Kendall Jenner’s, “Live for Now Moments Anthem” ad literally flashes across their TV and computer, tablet and smart phone screens like an early Christmas present. They watched the ad and the alarm screamed across the liberal social media dark web, “Jenner has co-opted anti-Donald Trump “resistance” movement to make a profit…rise up and resist!!”
The rest is history, short as it was. A massive wave of protest forced the hand of one of the largest corporations on the planet to back away from the ad, while also apologizing to Jenner who starred in the innocent ad. In their statement the opined, “Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the soda giant said in a statement Wednesday. “Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are removing the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
What were they apologizing for? Did the ad threaten to viciously attack someone? Did Kendall dare to threaten the President of the United States with assassination as gangster rapper Snoop Dog did in his recent deplorable song? Did Kendall issue a threat against the President as singer Madonna did in Washington during the “Woman’s March” in January? No, and no again. Instead she dared to offer a soft drink to a police officer and a black man. Deadly notion to consider, right?
Instead, a peaceful gesture from a young woman has been denounced and marginalized with hysterical comparisons to how black protesters and especially legendary civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was treated during civil rights protests in the late 50’s and 60’s. Their disgust for the ad is like watching comic book and movie characters Hulk, Superman or even Iron Man pummel a young woman into submission for daring to offer a cold beverage to quell emotions.
Perhaps Kendall Jenner has unleashed a backlash of her own with the ad. Just maybe she and her offer of peace through innocence is the change the flame throwers of the left need to see more of, not less of. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, might certainly agree.
