Postal services are sometimes rather strict about proper formatting of addresses, but in Iceland you might not even have to use one. One tourist didn’t, anyway.
A map drawn on the envelope and a few details about the intended recipient were enough to get the letter delivered, Metro.co.uk reported.
Apparently lacking the specific address or even the intended recipient’s name, the sender wrote “Country: Iceland,” “City: Búðardalur” and “Name: a horse farm with an Icelandic/Danish couple and three kids and a lot of sheep!”
He or she apparently knew the local road system and the locations of nearby towns well enough to produce a faithful road map. The farm appeared as a bold red dot accompanied by an arrow and the word “here.”
For good measure, the sender added a personal detail: “The Danish woman works in a supermarket in Búðardalur.”
