How is that display of free speech working out for the San Francisco 49ers? If  no one goes to a 49ers game, does it actually happen? The answer to that question is yes because the 49ers’ 34-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday is definitely going to count in the standings, even though almost no one showed up for the game.

According to CBS Sports:

Clearly, 49ers fans had better things to do than travel the 50 miles from San Francisco to Santa Clara to watch a 1-5 team (49ers) play a 2-3 team Tampa Bay Bucs. Although Californians are known showing up fashionably late to sporting events, that didn’t happen here. The crowd never really got any bigger as the game went on.

I know it might be a stretch, what I am going to say, but could it be a bit of Karma coming back to haunt a once proud franchise? Granted a bad football team, a new coach, older players, and of course, Colin Kaepernick’s anthem boycott has to be putting a bad taste in the mouths of even the liberal Californians.

It is pretty much clear change is coming, but when? Ownership will surely have its hands full, and for their sake and the fans I hope it is soon. Only time will tell, as the saying goes.

What do you think?
