No, it’s not the United States, it’s Austria. The liberal candidate, Alexander Van der Bellen, originally won the presidency by a mere 30,863 votes. The election was investigated and it was found that there were irregularities in voting in 94 of the 117 voting districts, mostly with the mailed in ballots. Not all of the districts were investigated in depth but the court found there were “serious cases” of voter fraud. Sixty seven witnesses were called, with two refusing to answer questions. The other candidate, Freedom Party (FPO) candidate Norbert Hofer, ran on the platform of stopping immigration into the country.
The court ordered a new election because they found about 740,000 questionable votes, not to mention any mailed in ballots that favored Hofer that could have been tossed out. Therefore, they vacated the election and have ordered a new election and I assume with added security. It was discovered that mailed in ballots were being opened before being turned in to election officials.
Many states here allow mailed in ballots, mostly in states controlled by liberals. They seem quite adept at finding new ways to rig elections.
President of the constitutional court Gerhart Holzinger said the ruling “does not make you a loser or a winner” to representatives of the two parties present in the court room this morning, and said the sentence had been passed to “strengthen confidence in the rule of law and democracy”, reports Germany’s Die Welt.
Breitbart London reported in May that Freedom party secretary Herbert Kickl had spoken out before the vote over the “unusually high number” of postal ballots requested. He warned at the time that “[postal votes] repeatedly show inconsistencies”.
The decision comes just seven days before Green-backed candidate Alexander Van der Bellen was due to be officially sworn in as President of Austria.
