It’s taking too long in my opinion, but maybe, the American people and the world will see Fauci held accountable for his unethical behavior.
The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on May 11, 2021, and Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky formally requested that the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington look into his testimony.

In the letter, Paul accuses Fauci of refusing to support gain-of-function research, which entails mutating viruses to make them more dangerous to enhance the development of antiviral defenses.
Paul also claimed that Fauci had lied about his beliefs regarding the so-called “lab leak” scenario, which holds that the COVID-19 pandemic may have originated from a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in Wuhan, China.
“… [T]o the press he claims to have a dispassionate view on the lab leak hypothesis, and in private he acknowledges gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology to his colleagues,” Paul wrote.
“His colleagues have acknowledged Dr. Fauci’s inconsistency. A congressional hearing, however, is not the place for a public servant to play political games – especially when the health and well-being of American citizens is on the line,” Paul continued.
The decision was made amid an ongoing discussion over the causes of the COVID-19 pandemic and its possible connection to gain-of-function research.
Paul asks for clarification on remarks made by Fauci that have sparked questions about their authenticity in a letter addressed to Matthew Graves, the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C.
The letter invokes the potential legal consequences of providing false or misleading information to Congress, citing 18 U.S.C. § 1001, which states, that any person who “makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation” as part of “any investigation or review, conducted under the authority of any committee, subcommittee, commission or office of the Congress, consistent with applicable rules of the House or Senate” is subject to criminal fines and imprisonment of up to five years.
“I warned Dr. Fauci of the criminal implications of lying to Congress and offered him an opportunity to recant his previous statement,” Paul stated in the letter.
“Dr. Fauci’s testimony is inconsistent with facts that have since come to light.”

Dr. Fauci’s denial before the Senate committee that he used his position at NIAID to support gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology is at the center of the controversy.
This denial conflicts with later information, such as emails made public by the House Select Committee on the Coronavirus Pandemic and conclusions from a GAO report. These disclosures have sparked debate over COVID-19’s genesis and the significance of US-funded research.
Paul claimed in a commentary post that was featured on Fox News in January 2022 that Fauci’s unique place in public life made it potential for misstatements to be particularly damaging.
“If Fauci was simply one family doctor in Peoria, his mistakes would not be so catastrophic. But since Fauci’s status approximates that of a medical czar, his errors are amplified throughout the land.
“When Fauci misinforms the public that cloth masks work, he risks the health of anyone who believes a cloth mask will protect them when caring for a spouse or relative with COVID.
“When Fauci creates algorithms that prohibit monoclonal antibodies from being given to hospital patients, he consigns those most at risk to struggle for recovery without one of our most effective treatments.
“When Fauci decides that he alone will define and fund dangerous ‘gain-of-function’ research, his disregard for the possibility of a lab leak is felt worldwide.”
Two days after Fauci’s Senate testimony, on May 13, 2021, in an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Paul claimed to have access to documentation showing that the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) NIAID, under Fauci, had given sizable grants to the Wuhan Institute for funding “gain-of-function” research on bat coronaviruses.
Paul urged the Department of Justice to look into apparent inconsistencies on July 14 of this year, reiterating a previous request from July 21, 2021.
Paul charged Fauci with lying over his participation in an NIH-funded gain of function study in Wuhan.
But since Attorney General Merrick Garland did nothing, Paul has adopted a more direct strategy by requesting that the U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., open an investigation.
If the probe is conducted, it might have significant effects on public health policies, research funding, and the standing of influential members of the scientific community.
It could reveal crucial information regarding the pandemic’s beginnings and the degree to which American agencies participated in scientific efforts at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
It appears that the Biden family’s lengthy history of bribery and corruption is finally coming to light thanks to the long arm of law, and it’s time to introduce yet another significant villain from the previous three years.
Dr. Fauci may want to buy extra masks.
