This man took domestic abuse to a whole new level when he mutilated his wife’s face because she disagreed with him.A 20-year-old Afghan woman is hoping to travel to Turkey for reconstructive surgery after her husband cut off her nose when the couple argued about the man taking his uncle’s 6-year-old daughter as his fiancée. Reza Gul and her husband, Muhammad Khan, 25, had been married for six years. Gul’s mother admitted to the fact that Khan had regularly beaten his wife before this particular incident. On a Sunday afternoon, Gul and Khan argued over Khan’s decision to take his uncle’s young daughter as his second wife. Khan then confronted his wife, cut off her nose with a knife and threw her on the back of a motorcycle with the aid of his brother.
The two were planning to take Gul to an undisclosed location so they could kill her, but residents of the village found out and Khan fled the scene.Gul was taken to a hospital in Maimana, the provincial capital, and according to a Maroof Samar, a doctor in the area, Gul was in “very critical condition when she was brought in” as “she had lost much blood.”A police official identified said that the Taliban has already arrested Muhammad Khan, and he is currently in their custody.It is unclear whether Mr. Khan would be tried for his crime, but it is evident that Shariah law makes allowances for cruelty toward women by Muslim men.If this was in America, this man would be in prison. Hopefully some justice is served for Gul and she will be protected from her husband when she is released from the hospital.
