Remember The 200 World Trade Jumpers On This Solemn Of Days

If there is one visual that tears at the heart of all that witnessed the madness of 9/11, it has to be the image of fellow citizens throwing themselves out of windows to save themselves of the horror of being burned alive or crushed. To this day my heart grows heavy even at the thought. But as time goes by these images are less and less seen in photos. Why are they being airbrushed out? Why are our fellow human beings being pushed out of sight?

According to DailyMail.co.uk:

From the earliest days after the 9/11 attacks, the American establishment and the media showed an overwhelming reluctance to dwell on those who jumped or fell from the Twin Towers. If this was simply down to qualms at being considered intrusive or voyeuristic when individuals in the most appalling circumstances chose in desperation to die very publicly, it would be understandable. But there are other, more complicated, reasons. In the aftermath of this attack on America’s sovereign territory — a period of intense patriotism — some considered that to choose to die rather than be killed showed a lack of courage.

I will not politicize this article, but when you are watching a football game today, and witness athletes voice their displeasure with the United States about injustices, just remember what these poor souls endured prior to making the decision of jumping to their death. They deserve more today than any others.  What do you think?
