Ted Nugent, a legendary rocker, blasted the emotionally immature leftists who are criticizing Jason Aldean over his successful song “Try That in a Small Town,” calling them “idiots” with no soul.
The song was released by Aldean in May, but there was little uproar at the time.
Liberals, who falsely claimed the song was “racist” and encouraged lynching, erupted in outrage when he released the music video for the song on July 14 to promote his upcoming album.
Why? Because it serves as a reminder to leftist rioters that a large portion of irate Americans believe in self-defense and won’t remain silent if their neighbors are battered, robbed, or killed.
“Now I know there’s a bunch of idiots out there, but you need to learn to get a kick out of the idiots,” Nugent told Fox News‘ Jimmy Failla on Saturday. “The idiots hate this Jason Aldean song because they hate when we push back against violence.”
As usual, the famed guitarist claimed, lefties misunderstood the song’s main point, “Try That in a Small Town.”
“They always get it 180 degrees wrong,” Nugent said. “This song is against violence. The song is about self-defense. The song is about protecting your loved ones in your neighborhood.
“If you find fault with a song that celebrates protecting your loved ones, your neighborhood, you might be going down to Target to the Satan display and getting on your knees.”
He added: “These are just weird people. We dismiss them out of hand because they’ve got no soul. I laugh in their face.”
Nugent claimed that the relentless criticism he has endured from enraged lefties over the years has protected him from their frequent outbursts.
“I’ve always stood up radically — really extremist — for God, family, country, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Ten Commandments, golden rule, work ethic, law and order, all that really radical stuff, and that represents the heart and soul of the best, most passionate, most cocky, most fun, people in the world,” he said.
Numerous country music luminaries, like Lee Greenwood and Travis Tritt, have defended Aldean in addition to Nugent by stating that the song is encouraging and patriotic.
As it stands, the left-wing outbursts have backfired because the controversy has catapulted “Try That in a Small Town” to the top of the music charts.

According to Nugent, it is clear that many Americans back Aldean given the outpouring of support he has received on social media.
“The reach of social media gets to good people all over the world,” he said. “And all the good people in the world are saying what the Nugent family says: ‘Go, Jason, go … We salute you, and we stand with you.’”
Aldean refused to give in to left-wing rioters threatening to cancel or silence him when he performed to a sold-out crowd in Cincinnati on Friday.
“I love my country. I love my family. And I will do anything to protect that, I can tell you that right now,” he said.
