Joey Feek finally succumbed to cervical cancer six months ago. Her heartbroken husband, Rory has once again become a single father and is doing his best to deal with his loss. Since Joey’s death, Rory has shared some tender memories and told of her struggle to her adoring fans. I believe it has been used as therapy both by Rory and Joey’s fans alike.

Six months hasn’t eased his pain

Joey’s living legacy
Joey and Rory often talked about life after her death.
Rory, who raised his eldest daughters Heidi, 29, and Hopie, 27, as a single dad, started to break down as he remembered the conversation they had about what his life would be like without her. ‘She told me right on the porch out there,’ he recalled. ‘She said, “It’s not fair. You’re not supposed to have to do this again.” I said, “But on the other hand, I’m perfect. I already know how.”‘
Despite his painful loss, Rory is relying on his family and his faith to help him look to the future.
‘God just keeps showing up and magically making what are our worst fears beautiful,’ he said.
Rory’s daughters Heidi and Hopie are now helping him raise their younger half-sister, and the doting dad is honoring his wife with the film To Joey, With Love.
The collection of edited home videos will be shown in select cities on September 20 and October 6.
Rory has now revealed for the first time, what Joey’s last words were:
I love you. I love You. I love you.
Rory spoke the same line to her as she passed away.
Those words had special meaning for Rory and Joey. It comes from a song he wrote a long time ago called, “Josephine.” It became a tradition with them . On birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day or any special occasion. It is fitting that she left this world confirming her love for her husband and he for his wife. Joey died but her love will live on forever.
