It’s being reported that Turkey, a member of NATO, has shot down a Russian military plane. Turkey claims the Russian plane violated their airspace numerous times, while Russia claims the plane was in Syrian airspace. The two pilots ejected the plane and were shot as they drifted to the ground.

This could precipitate a war between Turkey and Russia, as Putin said there will be “serious consequences” to this action. He called the attack a “stab in the back” by “accomplices of terrorists.”

And it must not be forgotten that Turkey is a member of NATO, which means that if it’s militarily attacked, the United States is bound to defend them.
