Parents were horrified when their daughter, who attends Belle Terre Elementary School, came off the bus with nothing but her shirt and underwear.
The poor 6-year-old girl raised her hand in class to go to the bathroom, but the teacher ignored her request until it was too late. Raymond McCurdy, the father, explains that her daughter has medical issues that prevents her from ‘holding it in’ for very long. When she needs to go – she has to go.
McCurdy demanded an explanation from the assistant principle.
“We asked her why my daughter was sent home in just panties and a T-shirt, and she begins to tell me, ‘We thought she had a long enough shirt to be able to put her on the school bus and send her home.’”
The school’s dress code dictates that “shorts, skirts, skorts or jumpers are acceptable if they are within 4 inches above the knee,” but when the parents measured the T-shirt their child was wearing they found that it was well above 4 inches.
“They make me send her to school in clothes to their expectations,” McCurdy said. “Why couldn’t you send my kid home in clothes to your expectations?”
