It should not come as a surprise that as fact checkers go, Snopes should be the first out the door. Any similarities between their checking and the truth is purely accidental and is avoided as much as humanly possible. In the following case, the lead fact checker is Kim LaCapria, a name that should be familiar to anyone who follows my writing. She is a failed liberal blogger, who even liberals couldn’t stand.
Aiding her was Snopes co-founder David Mikkelson who stands accused of embezzling money from Snopes to pay for prostitutes. I guess screwing with the truth was not enough for him. During last year’s Democratic national Convention, Snopes outright lied about democrats not having any flags on day one for which they caught a lot of grief. Fact distorter Dan Evon posted a picture of flags, calling the accusation as false. That picture was actually from Day Two.
In the most recent subterfuge issued by Snopes concerned members of Congress who did not stand or clap for Carryn Owens, widow of Navy Seal Ryan Owens. As proof they showed a picture of when she was first introduced. It shows Muslim Brotherhood backer Keith Ellison and former DC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz standing, but she received another standing ovation after Donald Trump praised her and her husband. Both Ellison and Schultz remained in their seats and refused to clap.
Snopes, which is staffed with a solid lineup of leftists, used the fact that Ellison and Wasserman Schultz stood and clapped during the first standing ovation as reason to declare it “false” that they remained seated during the second standing ovation, which they clearly did. (As John Sexton at HotAir points out, Snopes significantly revised their “fact-check” without any sort of editor’s note, contrary to journalistic standards.)
