Don’t you just love when karma turns out to work in your favor? I’ll bet there will be backlash on this one that will heard around the world, all the way to George Soros’s front door. After all, what’s good for the goose…
The Louisiana legislature is seeking to pass a bill that would make an attack on a police officer a hate crime. It would also include firefighters. This is a much-needed expansion of the state’s hate crime law. I think it is worded perfectly and I hope it passes. Including law enforcement officials in the hate crime statute would allow federal prosecutors and the FBI the ability to investigate and prosecute those involved in an assault or murder of a local police officer or sheriff’s deputy. They are calling it the Blue Lives Matter Act. We owe it to our police officers and firefighters to have their backs since they risk their lives every day for ours.
Bill HB 953 would change the state’s hate crime law to include law enforcement and firefighters. It comes after a string of attacks against officers and growing resentment toward law officials because of a series of questionable deaths at the hands of police, most notably the death of Michael Brown in Ferguson.
The state’s House of Representatives is considering the bill, which would change the state’s hate crime provision to say:
It shall be unlawful for any person to select the victim of the following offenses against person and property because of actual or perceived race, age, gender, religion, color, creed, disability, sexual orientation, national origin, or ancestry of that person or the owner or occupant of that property or because of actual or perceived membership or service in, or employment with, an organization, or because of actual or perceived employment as a law enforcement officer or firefighter …
Rep. Lance Harris is promoting the bill. He said police are under attack and used the example of two NYPD cops killed in 2014 by a man who posted on social media that he wanted to avenge the death of Eric Garner, a black man killed by police. Black Lives Matter did condemn that attack, saying it is not their “vision of justice.” But that claim rings hollow as a number of Black Lives Matter thugs have taken the lives of police officers in the recent past. Louisiana law adds an additional five years in prison for an offense against one of the listed groups, KLFY reports. A similar bill was introduced at the federal level in March. I hope that this spreads to every state in the union. Blue Lives Matter and the hate against our first responders needs to be stopped.
