A Texas man has been sentenced to 693 years in prison for the serial rape of a child under the age of fourteen. The jury had already found Kelley Alexander Lewis guilty of the crimes by the jury and in the sentencing phase, the jury decided to give him the maximum on all 7 charges. The jury had the option of giving him anywhere from five to ninety nine years for each offense.The harsh sentence was handed down after several high profile rape cases in other states saw rapists getting little or no prison time at all.
The accused was charged with raping a family member seven times over a four month period. He was also fined $70,000 in fines.
