With all the craziness in the world, “Hands Up-Don’t Shoot,” Caitlyn Jenner, does the world need performance artists adding to the mix. Apparently so. Straight from Melbourne, wait for it, . . . Vaginal Knitting.
Artist, Casey Jenkins thinks the world needs vaginal knitting, or at least the messages that vaginal knitting brings to the world. For 28 days, including the days she menstruates, she sits with a rolled skein of yarn inserted into her vagina and knits. Yeah, it’s gross.
Officially, her art is called “Casting Off My Womb.” But what does it say? What does it prove? To Jenkins, it’s erotic, and it goes a step farther in eliminating the cultural discomfort with the female form. Here’s the video. Maybe you can figure out. I’m a little shell shocked.
