This is a Beautiful Picture Until You Zoom Out

From the cover photo this girl is both beautiful and happy and it’s easy to tell why.  But if you zoom out, you will no longer find it so easy.  Aimee Copeland has had a couple of rough years.  It all began when she was out with friends and they found a makeshift zip line.  As Aimee was zipping along, the cable broke and she fell onto the rocks below.  She had a very bad cut on her leg that required 22 staples.  Then it got worse when the doctor told her that she had contracted a flesh eating bacteria and that it was affecting five of her organs.

In order to save her life, doctors amputated all four of her limbs. Her arms were amputated below the elbow, her right leg below the knee, and her left leg to her hip.

She was only 24-years-old at the time.
Now, she’s 28, and recently shared a photo that garnered all the attention over the social media.

Look at closely at the photo to find out why –

This is just too sad for words.  Injuries like this do not build character but it does reveal it and this girl has more courage than I think I could ever muster.  My hat is off to her.

In the photo, Aimee proudly shows her beautiful body, wearing bikini, and seems to be confident.

“It has taken me a long time to become comfortable with and accept my own body,” wrote Aimee on her Facebook.

“We are all made with imperfections and there is so much beauty in our flaws. The scars and skin grafting build character! It’s not about what you have – what you do with what you have is what really counts,” added Aimee.
