This Major Retailer Just Announced That Men Can Share Restroom With Your Daughter

Target stores are now saying that its staff and customers can use which ever bathroom corresponds with their gender identity. This includes gay, lesbian, and transgender people.

According to KREM 2,

MINNEAPOLIS – Recent discussion in several states regarding so-called “bathroom bills” has Target Corp. affirming its position for employees and shoppers.

“We believe that everyone—every team member, every guest, and every community—deserves to be protected from discrimination, and treated equally,” a Target post stated. “Consistent with this belief, Target supports the federal Equality Act, which provides protections to LGBT individuals, and opposes action that enables discrimination. We welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”

North Carolina recently became the first U.S. state to ban transgender people from using bathrooms and locker rooms that align with their gender identity in government buildings and schools. A “bathroom bill” was recently discussed in Minnesota, though Governor Mark Dayton has promised to veto such a bill in the outside chance one would make it to his desk.

On Tuesday, a federal appeals court overturned a policy barring a transgender student from using the boys’ restrooms at a Virginia high school.

“Everyone deserves to feel like they belong. And you’ll always be accepted, respected and welcomed at Target,” the post concluded.

Is Target doing the right thing by treating everyone equally or are they setting themselves up for problems in the future?
