In modern times the Shemitah years have meant good things for the state of Israel. The Jews retook Jerusalem during the Six-Day war, which was a Shemitah year. It has also been a time of judgements for those countries who have discarded following the God of the Bible. 2008 was a Shemitah year, and we saw the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the beginning of a massive market crash. Seven years previous was September, 2001 and the world witnessed 9/11 and that was accompanied by another market crash. You can very easily observe market resets every seven years in September.
