As the tensions increase on the Korean Peninsula, time may be running out for Kim Jung Un. Word out South Korea is that the crack US Navy Seal team that killed Osama bin Laden is currently training to take out the North Korean tyrant. While all SEAL team operations are classified, word has come from the South Korean government that SEAL Team Six is in country training with other elite units during top secret drills aimed at removing the pudgy dictator according to a report in news.com.au.
US officials have confirmed “ground, air, naval and special operations” are taking part in “several joint and combined field training operations” which involve up to 17,000 troops. In addition, South Korean newspaper JoongAng Daily has claimed the teams would take part in a drill to simulate the removal of Kim Jong-un.
However, US officials refuse to either confirm or deny the elite troopers are preparing a raid to take out Kim. When asked about drills, Former US Navy Commander Gary Ross said only: “There are variety of Special Operations Forces (SOF) participating in Foal Eagle, as they do in most regional exercises.” He added that: “Foal Eagle is a regularly-scheduled, annual exercise that is the culmination of many months of planning and it is not being conducted in response to the current situation on peninsula.”
Special operations teams believed to be participating in the exercises are thought to include the Army Rangers, Delta Force and Green Berets. The current exercise started one day after US deployed its state-of-the-art THAAD missile defense system to the region. That system is now tasked with taking down any missiles that North Korea might launch which threaten U.S., Japanese or Korean assets in the region.
The deployment comes as tensions between Pyongyang and Washington are reaching a crisis point following multiple Ballistic Missile launches. A state-run North Korean newspaper yesterday warned the US it had nukes trained on the US mainland.
An article in Rodong Sinmun read: “Our revolutionary strong army is keenly watching every move by enemy elements with our nuclear sight focused on the U.S. invasion bases. Not only in South Korea and the Pacific operation theatre but also in the U.S. mainland.”
President Trump said he “didn’t know” if the North Korean dictator is mentally fit as he boasted of having a “very powerful” military while talking up the power of the US “armada”.
Mr. Trump said: “I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know him. But he’s doing the wrong thing. We are sending an armada. Very powerful. We have submarines. Very powerful. Far more powerful than the aircraft carrier, that I can tell you. And we have the best military people on earth. And I will say this: He is doing the wrong thing.”
