On Friday President Trump announced that he is donating $100,000 of his annual pay as President to help repair national monuments damaged by rioters over the past couple of months.

President Trump on Friday said he will donate $100,000 of his salary to help repair national monuments damaged during anti-police brutality protests.
The funds — a quarter of the presidents $400,000 annual pay — will go toward the National Park Service for the restorations, according to Trump.
“I promised YOU I would not take a dime of salary as your President,” Trump tweeted Friday.
“I donate the entire $400,000! It is my honor to give $100,000 to @NatlParkService to help repair and restore our GREAT National Monuments.”
“So important to our American History!” he went on. “Thank You!!”
While this is a nice start, and we approve of the president’s gesture, what really should be done is the rioters responsible for defacing and destroying historical and cultural monuments should be forced to pay for the repairs and restorations out of their own pockets.
All of their assets should be forfeit to help pay for the damages they caused.
Then those responsible should be forced to spend several years in prison doing hard labor to think through whether or not destroying historical and cultural monuments is really a good idea.
