Donald Trump’s challenge was to convince undecided voters that though he is nowhere near perfect, he will always put America first while Clinton will side with the globalists. Trump had to convince voters last night that he is like the athlete whom everyone hates when he is on the other team but needs on theirs. Will he be up to the task? I feel that he can be, for the most part which president up to and including the lame duck has got it right consistantly.
Facing tremendous pressure to appear contrite and offer a genuine apology for his comments about taking advantage of women some 11 years ago, Donald Trump did something better: he pivoted. The debate focused on the #TrumpTapes for barely a few minutes and it wasn’t the fault of the moderators or Hillary Clinton. Trump just moved past the apology faster than anyone expected, straight into his attacks on Bill Clinton – which we knew were coming based on the past few days and the pre-debate press conference he held with women who have accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault – to the meat of this election: change versus status quo.
After watching the debate, I came away feeling better about Mr. Trump. He righted the ship, with stood the “October Surprise” the Democrats prepared for him, and went on the attack. I would hope he has grown into what this position requires, and it surely looks like he has the stamina for it. He took it to Hillary as only the previous 2 Republican Candidates could have only dreamed of. Trump put Hillary on the defensive, and that is something to say. To be a fly on the wall in Her limo last night would have been something. What do you think?
