Hurricane Matthew swept up the east coast wreaking chaos and damage from Florida all the way up to Virginia. Thankfully rescue operations were up and running almost immediately and most were saved from potentially deadly situations.
According to BlueLivesMatter, Fayetteville Police rescue a woman and her child from flood waters. Watching the pictures and video of the rescues, you might notice the use of heavy “militarized” police vehicles.
So far, there have been 19 people killed in the Unites States by hurricane Matthew. While police officers are murdered for no reason across the country, police and emergency crews have rescued nearly 900 people from the devastating hurricane. One amazing video caught the Fayetteville Police department rescuing a woman and her toddler from a flooded vehicle.
Before hurricane Matthew reached the coast of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, police were doing their best to get everyone out of the evacuation zones. Unfortunately, some people waited too long to evacuate and lost their lives. The U.S. death toll so far has reached:
- 8 deaths in North Carolina
- 4 deaths in Georgia
- 6 deaths in Florida
- and 1 death in South Carolina
As the news media chooses to spin the truth and focus on negative cases involving LEO’s, police have helped rescue hundreds of people from hurricane Matthew. In the video below, you can see volunteers from the NYPD with a bearcat and New York Fire Department rescue 3 people from a trapped vehicle in North Carolina.
Many people are trapped due to their roads being washed away by the flooding. This Fayetteville, North Carolina resident video taped a large section of road near his home washed away.
The historical city of Charleston, South Carolina was hit so hard by strong winds and severe flooding that officials had to implement a curfew to keep people safe. 17 inches of rain was reported on the Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia and there were waves as high as 12 feet at the mouth of the Savannah River.
In Haiti so far, hurricane Matthew has claimed over 900 lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
Law enforcement officials have been amazing with their efforts to keep order during this hard time. It’s easy to forget that these people risk their own lives and for that, we should be thankful.
