Marc Laquon Payne, a self described member of the New Black Panthers, intentionally tried to run over three policemen in Phoenix, Arizona.  Payne, whose African name is . Ntare Kalid Ali El-Shabazz has been charged with three counts of intentional attempted first degree murder.  One officer was able to avoid getting hit by the driver.

One officer avoided the car, one was run over and the third was thrown into the air as high as the car.  All three are expected to fully recover.  Payne was arrested in 1997 for kicking a police officer during a traffic stop.

From NBC12:

Payne stopped at one of the pumps with his car facing the officers, Yahner said. He reversed and backed into a parking spot. There, he turned off the car’s headlights and sat for several minutes.

He drove from the parking spot and slammed on the gas directly at the officers.

The car barreled into the officers and the front of the QT. One officer, the sergeant, was directly hit and another was sent flying into the front of the store.

Payne then got out of his car to fight the third officer, who was not hit by the car. An officer used a stun gun on the suspect before detaining him.

Phoenix police Sgt. Jonathan Howard said:

“The officers all tried to run away and it looks like one just missed being squished between the police car and the suspect’s car.  It looks like one of them was actually run over by the car and then the third officer was propelled as high as the car before he came to rest.”

BLM and the New Black Panthers have been calling for the killing of police all year long.

Payne describes himself as a member of the New Black panthers but it has not yet been confirmed.  It is suspected that Payne was impaired at the time of the assault, but his attack on the officers was intentional.
