
Sean Hyman
Police Officer Sean Hyman was dispatched on a noise complaint involving a parked car. It was about midnight in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and as the officer tried to arrest Lance Carr, whom Hyman determined was a wanted felon, when Carr suddenly attacked the officer, which led to a three minute struggle in which Carr tried to grab the officer’s gun. Bystanders who heard the struggle called 9/11 and backup officers quickly sundued the felon.

As Hyman began to cuff Carr, Carr jumped him and punched him, wrestling him to the ground and tried to take his gun. Hyman fought valiantly and contained Carr until other police could arrive and subdue him. During the altercation, Hyman could be heard screaming for help and asking Carr to stop. Hyman managed to discharge his weapon and make it inoperable. When help arrived, Hyman called out, “Shoot him!!”
