Walmart Shopper Hits Several People in Parking Lot [VIDEO]

A Hayward woman was arrested for a rampage in a Walmart parking lot after store employees refused to give her a refund on batteries they claimed she stole.  She was able to get away and jumped into her car and head out in reverse, hitting several people along the way.  Police, acting on tips from witnesses found out where Malicoat lived and they were able to arrest her without further incident.  She is being held without bail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Jessica Malicoat, 23, was taken into custody after police received numerous tips about the woman and her vehicle, described as a two-door Honda Civic.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, a woman accused of stealing batteries after trying to get a refund for them was fleeing security guards at Walmart, 30600 Dyer Street, police said.

When the woman got to her car and backed out of her parking stall, she struck three members of a family and narrowly missed the family’s mother and a 3-year-old. Pedestrians were forced to dive out of the car’s way as it drove off, police said.

Two adults and a 13-year-old suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Just before 1 p.m. Thursday, detectives went to Malicoat’s residence and arrested her without incident. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and held without bail. She is expected to arraigned 2 p.m. Monday at Fremont Hall of Justice.
