[WATCH] 400 Students Skip School To Sing Hymn Outside Sick Teachers Window

[LittleThings] Ben Ellis is a beloved a high school Latin teacher at Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) in Nashville, Tennessee. In December 2015, Ellis was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that has recently spread to his lungs.

Mr. Ellis is described as the “definition of a teacher, a role model, a servant.” Despite his devastating diagnosis, Mr. Ellis remains joyful and peaceful at heart — and the student body at CPA has wanted nothing more than to return the love he has given to them on a daily basis.

Recently, the principal at CPA says he was approached by three different people who all saw a vision of the high school students and faculty singing words of prayer to Mr. Ellis on his front lawn. The principal was struck by the similar stories, and decided to turn those visions into a reality.

400 students and staff members loaded up their buses and cars and drove to Mr. Ellis’ home.

What happened next was recorded on camera, and a few days later, country superstar Tim McGraw shared the video on his Facebook page.

In December 2016, Ellis was diagnosed with esophageal cancer that has recently spread to his lungs.

Mr. Ellis has decided to no longer continue treatments, and hospice nurses are working to plan his next steps.

Through it all, Mr. Ellis has remained peaceful, carried by his faith, and the support from his student body and loved ones.

Country singer Tim McGraw recently shared a clip of Mr. Ellis on his Facebook page.

The video is so powerful and touching that it went massively viral with millions of views.

As it turned out, the principal at CPA decided to make one school day very different from the rest.

One CPA mother named Shannon Lee Seibert took to Facebook to share the letter from the school’s principal given to the parents on this special day:

“I wanted to give you an update on this morning’s change of schedule and chapel for the high school, as it was a bit unorthodox, but sometimes that’s just how the Holy Spirit calls us to be.

Over the course of last night and into this morning, three separate and unrelated people approached me saying that while praying they received a vision of the high school students and faculty singing praises on the front lawn of the home of Ben Ellis, our Latin teacher who is battling cancer and who loves a good hymn sing. So, we loaded the buses and cars and went.

It was a powerful and moving outpouring of love that our students were able to bestow upon a man who loves us well.

We returned to campus and went straight into chapel, where we prayed and praised God. It was broken and beautiful.”

In the clip, Mr. Ellis — who requires a cannula tube for oxygen — is seen looking out his window and realizing 400 of his students and fellow teachers are standing on his front lawn…

…Singing a prayer hymn to their favorite teacher.

Mr. Ellis will never forget this beautiful moment.
