Tuesday night was a big night for billionaire businessman and front-running GOP candidate Donald Trump, as he swept the so-called “Acela primary,” named for the major Amtrak train line that runs through several of the states conducting primaries that day.
Trump won overwhelmingly in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, garnering virtually all of the delegates up for grabs and extending his lead over the remaining candidates in the field, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
Following his better-than-expected victory, Trump held a news conference where he took questions from reporters after delivering a short statement.
Trump made it obvious that he has already turned his attention towards the general election, as he launched a devastating attack at his likely opponent, former secretary of state and presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton, calling her out for her excessive use of the “woman’s card.”
