Police in Montreal arrested a suspect in connection with an alarming video that featured a Joker-clad man threatening to kill “one Arab a week.”
In the video, the man tells the camera in French, “as of next week, there will be murders all across Quebec,” adding, “we will eliminate all of them, one by one. Islam has harmed us enough.”
According to a translation posted by Vice, the man indicated he has more than ten recruits to carry out attacks on Muslims in Quebec. “I will fire a bullet in the head of one Arab per week, starting next week,” he said, guaranteeing the threat is “serious.”
“If you make threats on social networks or on the web, there are very concrete consequences in the real world,” Montreal police spokesman Laurent Gringas said, noting, “the criminal code allows us to press charges against people who do things like this.”
Constable André Leclerc said the suspect in meeting with investigators, but has yet to announce the charges against him.
