Professor Joel Bunkowske was in the middle of his lecture when a student’s 2-year-old son stood up in the middle of class and walked towards him.
Instead of admonishing the child’s mother, Bunkowske picked the boy up and continued with his lecture, WKRN-TV reported.
Amanda Osbon, a single mom and student at DeVry University, in Nashville, Tenn., said she was embarrassed initially, but Bunkowske put her at ease.
Osbon told WKRN that the professor “was amazing, patient and kind,” about the situation.
“Most of us in the class are parents, so everyone was very understanding that he was there,” Osbon told WKRN.
DeVry University posted the story on Facebook and wrote, “we love our professors.”
The story also struck a chord with many people on social media. One mother shared the story and wrote, “there have been many times I don’t know how the heck I could have managed as a single parent.”
