You won’t believe how cops say man marketed heroin

A township man known as “Hammer” was arrested Monday for dealing heroin under the brand name “Ebola,” according to a prepared statement from Toms River Police.

The department’s Special Enforcement Team raided a room at the Ramada Inn on Route 9 searching for evidence of drug dealing by Barnabas Davis, 47. An investigation, which was aided by information from Lakewood Police, indicated that Davis, who was nicknamed “Hammer,” had been involved in heroin trafficking from the rear suites of the hotel. The Ramada had no knowledge or involvement in the crime and cooperated in the investigation, according to police.

Davis, whose last known address is the Briar Knolls Condominium complex in Toms River, was arrested after police found about 633 wax folds containing heroin and about 40 grams of crack cocaine in the room.

The heroin was packaged for sale and had a variety of “trademark” stamps on them, including one that was apparently trying to cash in on the attention paid to the Ebola virus.
