Sacramento’s homeless got to feast on steak, salmon, and gnocchi, when a groom got cold feet and the bride’s family gave up the delicious food planned for their 120 guests. Quinn Duane got engaged to her boyfriend, Landon Borup, in April of 2015 after dating since August of 2011.
When Borup backed out of the wedding at the last minute, the Duane family decided to invite the homeless to the wedding venue at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento, to enjoy the meal intended for their wedding guests.
The bride’s parents wanted to give back to the community, turning lemons into lemonade by giving away the 120 plates of food, that included steak, salmon, salad, and gnocchi. Kari Duane said …’when I found out on Monday that the wedding would not be taking place, it just seemed like, of course, this would be something that we would do to give back.’
Erika Craycraft was one of the guests who dined at the Citizen Hotel, with her husband and 5 kids. She thanked the Duane family for their kindness. The wedding and honeymoon were non-refundable, so on Sunday, devastated bride Quinn and her mother Kari jetted off to Belize for some rest and relaxation.
