Dr Phil Being Sued for False Imprisonment

A former staffer for Dr Phil McGraw has sued the good doctor for false imprisonment.  It seems that there were leaks in his organization, so he called all three hundred employees together and used security personnel to keep anyone from leaving.  He then went into a profanity laced diatribe.  The former employee,  Leah Rothman, is now suing over that incident.  How many of you have ever been coerced into hearing the boss go into a rant about how poorly everyone was doing their job?  I’ll bet most of you can’t count that high.

I really can’t stand Dr Phil, but really?  Even without security personnel on hand any employee with an ounce of sense would know better than to leave.  That’s a major career move when you walk out on the boss.  So she couldn’t leave?  Maybe they didn’t giver her a “safe space” or a heavy duty crying towel.  I’ve had bosses who would yell at me for things we both knew I had nothing to do with.  I mentioned that to one boss, Marty.  He said, “I know, but you’re here and he or she isn’t.”

I always figured that I was receiving payback for all those times I screwed up and didn’t get caught.  Besides, the check always cleared.  I never believed in that saying that crap runs downhill.  Crap runs uphill and once the boss has enough of it retribution runs downhill.  People of my generation knew that and it didn’t bother us much, but today everyone is a victim and someone with deep pockets are going to have to pay.

Anyway, I digress , Rothman said that the bawling out wasn’t necessary because Dr Phil already knew who the leaker was.  So?  Maybe he just wanted to make sure everyone knew it was a big deal.  I really fear for the future.  Rothman claimed she suffered emotionally and then was forced to quit her job.  She is arguing”constructive termination.”  In other words, she claims she was forced out because she, one of three hundred people, were scarred for life when they were yelled at.

She makes my head hurt.
