Major law enforcement groups, including the state’s largest police union, California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA), joined a coalition of large law enforcement groups in California that oppose new gun laws being promoted by former mayor and current POS, Gavin Newsome.  The Coalition for Civil Liberties is the group fighting the proposal and so far has 9 groups signed up, including the CCPOA, The Association of Deputy District Attorneys of Los Angeles, Law Enforcement Action Network and San Francisco Veteran Police Officer Association .

Newsome is running the campaign to get enough signatures in order to place it on the November ballot.  Coalition Co-Chair Chuck Michel put out the following statement:

“It’s telling that California’s law enforcement experts are overwhelmingly critical of Newsom’s proposal.  They’re the ones risking their lives every day and have a unique vantage point on what it takes to keep our streets safe. We should be listening to them, not politicians out to promote their own personal interest.”

LG Spokesman Dan Newman told The Daily Caller News Foundation:
“There will always be certain groups who follow the NRA and automatically oppose all common-sense reforms to reduce gun violence.  But most Californians – including many in law enforcement – support Newsom’s initiative to keep guns and ammo from dangerous people.”

Newsome and LG are trying to exploit the San bernadino shootings as the reason this bill is needed, even though this law would not have prevented the shootings.
